Ethos
The fact they show autistic children talking about their past experiences makes the video to be believable. In the addition, the authority of the speaker Tom Gleinser within the field made it more convincing. Tom Gleinser is an actor, comedian, and writer. However, the writer of the video has zero creditability. In the end of the video, it shows that it is supportive by the New South Wales Government and the autism awareness organization. This gives as well, it gives one sites for the viewers to follow up more information about autism. The only weakness that this video has is that the writer did not have creditability.
Pathos
Children at a young age do not understand why others are different. In the beginning of the young child asks a question with curiosity “Why Jaime don’t understand things usually?” What are you doing (2012). Then, five ASD children who appear older than him respond to the question even if the question did not imply to them. The respond of children, said that in some point in life they were rejected by other children in school because the way they interacted with society. The children as well mentioned how they believed that being different was a bad thing for the same reason that they were being denied by society. The language being used is emotionally loaded. In the beginning of the video when all autistic children responded to the question created sadness. However when they finish answering the question the mood of the scenes changes. They later on the video the same children were asked a question of what autism is and how they express it. As they answered they always kept a glee on their face, which added happiness to the rest of the video. The background music helped both scenes create both emotions sadness and happiness. In the video they focus more on the children, as they give their speech they always remain in the middle of the screen. The speaker who directs and explain clear examples of autism was passionate and smoothly. The entire film gives appropriate language and subject and hand. The film does not show any weakness it does impact the audience the fact they used ASD children in the video.
Logos
The video lacks on ethos due to the fact that they do not show plenty of data and reliable information. In this video they give the amount of children who are born with this disorder. This however they portrait great examples the video presented; they are clear and easy to understand. In the video they explained by showing different colored boats floating on water as ordinary children. They are in different color in order for you too notice their personality easily. Then they add a tip of an iceberg to identify ASD children, this iceberg id cover 90% under water that makes the people not being able to see their personality. The video is implying that a ASD child is difficult to understand yet if you start to get to know them more their likely to be wonderful kids. In the video they show another demonstrating a graph showing the show range of spectrum. Though there are weaknesses because they do not have quotations anecdotes, informed opinion and citations from experts.
Autistic children faced many obstacles in their daily life. The biggest one is getting accepted by society. Based on the guidelines that society has labeled their disorder as something bad or contagious. This video informative video wants to autistic children what they really need is a friend for them not to feel left out from society. In one of the scenes the video talks about how children need a friend in order to condition and especially not feel left out, every step out of the way. They have to rely in lot of family and friendship. The video is effective, it is informative and it give good examples in what autism is.
